Sports massage offers a multitude of benefits that directly help athletes and non-athletes enhance performance, endurance, flexibility, and improve faster muscle recovery and injury prevention.

Depending on the type of athletic performance, deep tissue techniques can be applied 2-5 days prior to an event, to allow for post-massage healing.

In pre-event Sport Massage GEM aims to warm up the body, stimulate the muscles and blood flow, increase flexibility to improve range of motion and prepare the body for an intense workout for better performance.

In post-exercise Sports Massage GEM aims to reduce pain, inflammation and aid in the recovery from “Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and Exercise Induced Muscle Damage (EIMD).

DOMS and EIMD can be caused by microscopic muscle damage during exercise and often appear 24-72 hours after the event. Therefore massage is an important part of healing prior to this period. Tiger K Tape may be applied to support muscle and joint recovery.

Techniques can be deep, intense and relaxing depending on pre or post training and on clients needs. The aim is to enhance circulation, increase blood flow and release the build up of metabolic wastes such as lactic acid that accumulate in the muscle during intense exercise and can contribute to injury, pain, tightness and muscle fatigue.

Both athletes and non-athletes can benefit from sports massage. Especially helpful for those suffering from long term injuries and need that extra support.
